About
Alison Ash Doula

Hi, I am Alison. I live in Abbots Langley, Hertfordshire with my husband, three children and two noisy Siamese cats. As a birth and postnatal doula, I am here to provide support, guidance, and encouragement to help you and your family navigate the journey of early parenthood. Whether you are a first-time parent or have experienced childbirth before, I am here to help you feel empowered and confident in the preparation of the arrival of your little one. I offer comprehensive support throughout labour and delivery, including emotional and physical support, advocacy and education. My goal is to help you have a positive birth experience that meets your individual needs and preferences.
In addition to birth support, I also offer postnatal doula services which help you to adjust to life with a new baby. This includes assistance with breastfeeding, newborn care, and emotional support during the postpartum period. As a postnatal doula, I am committed to providing compassionate care and practical support to help you and your family thrive. I believe that every family deserves to have a positive and empowering birth and postpartum experience, and I am dedicated to helping you achieve that.
I would be honored to support you on this journey and look forward to hearing from you soon. This is your journey, and I will be there to hold your hand, to listen to you and guide you to information to help support your decision making if needed. Your baby, your body, YOUR choice and I will stand beside you all the way.

Experience
My Journey
My interest in birth began after I had had a positive birth when my first baby was born, I knew then that I wanted to be involved in supporting others through this transformative experience. Initially, I considered training to be a midwife, thinking that was the natural path. However, the timing was not right as myself and my husband planned to grow our family. After the arrival of our third and final baby, it was clear midwifery wasn't going to work around family life.
Although I hadn't discovered the role of a doula yet, I had stepped into the role with friends and people I met along the way. Hearing others birth stories and postpartum experiences made me determined to help in some way.
It wasn't until I joined a women cycling group that I first heard about doulas. One of the members shared her incredible experience with a doula during her second birth, and I was immediately intrigued. The conversation sparked my research and I quickly discovered BirthBliss. By some stroke of luck, I managed to secure the final sport on the upcoming training course, just days before it begun. As an added bonus, the training was taking place right round the corner from my home!
After my training had finished, the passion to support others was stronger than ever - I knew being a doula was my absolute calling! I have not looked back and have supported many families, offering bespoke support that will have a positive impact on their experience of birth and early parenthood. Alongside my doula work I also volunteer at Home Start and Happy baby Community. I am a experienced birth and postnatal doula, this is my full time job. I have supported a variety of different births in many settings - I support all types of birth. To ensure the information I share is up to date, I am continually learning and researching.

Alison provided me with immeasurable kindness and support through my pregnancy, birth and postnatally. She has a wonderful calmness about her that combined with a passion and extensive knowledge for birth make her a superb doula. I leant on her for support everytime fear crept in in the lead up to my HBAC. Alison never doubted me and my ability and I achieved my homebirth with my 9lb10oz baby boy in November 2022. Thank you so much Alison, you have gone beyond the call for me time and time again and I cannot put my gratitude into words (especially in my sleep deprived state..!!) THANK YOU

Alison is AMAZING! Unbelievably kind, supportive and thoughtful - she’s absolutely the person you want in your team as you navigate through the first few days and weeks of becoming a new family. When I needed advice, Alison was always evidence based and pointed me to some really helpful sources, at the same time as helping me to trust myself and my intuition on what was right for me and my baby. I can 100% say my experience of motherhood wouldn’t be as positive without her
Rob & Laura
We sought Alison’s help with post-natal support following a traumatic birth which left Laura feeling extremely low and struggling with her mental health.
Alison really swept us up and I don’t think we could have got through those first few months without her. We wouldn’t hesitate in recommending her to others and are so grateful for all she did for our family. Alison, we really cant thank you enough
